A Short Poem of Tragedy and Remembrance

Oh precious life,
precarious innocence,
fragile as tear drops
and squandered like coins
now and forever
lost to a velvet darkness.

We remember you.
In the chilly air
we remember you.
In the icy wind
we love you.
In the warmth of memory.
We remember you.

How many times
must we plunge
into this icy abyss
of sorrow?

Thinking of those affected by the tragedy in Newtown and of those precious lives lost.
