American Writers Museum

This week, I received a great tip. Someone was cruising around the internet and sent me this fantastic nugget and now I can barely contain myself. In March 2017, Chicago will open the American Writers Museum! I can’t believe I didn’t know about this until now (though part of me is grateful because I only have to wait a little more than a year for it). Road trip anyone???

The American Writers Museum’s mission is as follows:

The mission of the American Writers Museum is to engage the public in celebrating American writers and exploring their influence on our history, our identity, our culture, and our daily lives.

Sounds fantastic to me! This is what my love of literature and my literary education was all about. We studied writers to get their perspectives on what was happening in the world at the time. Being able to visit a museum that is dedicated to this is so exciting and is a concept that I actually really want to donate too, though I can’t really afford to donate money to anything at the moment. But my thoughts are with you, American Writers Museum!

I think working for them is my new dream job…

I can only imagine all of the amazing exhibits this museum will host and I expect I will be making many trips to Chicago to see them. Luckily traveling from KC to Chicago is relatively easy and not too expensive. This lover of all things Gothic is hoping for a fantastic Gothic exhibit like the one featured at a library in London in 2014 (wish I could have seen it!).

Is it too early to start my countdown to the opening?

Happy New Year and happy reading, followers!
